| We are seeking actors for a play. You are auditioning for a musical, so please be prepared to both sing and dance. You will be required to provide a copy of the music you wish to sing in the key in which you intend to sing it. It is 1933 and eleven-year-old Annie is in the Municipal Girls Orphanage, along with Molly, who is seven, Kate, who is eight, Tessie, who is ten, July, who is thirteen, Pepper, who is twelve and Duffy, who is thirteen. Annie decides to escape to find her parents, but is caught by the orphanage supervisor Miss Hannigan, who suffers regularly from a hangover. However, Annie successfully escapes, running into a friendly stray dog. As she comforts him, she tells him of better days yet to come. The dog catcher is after him, so Annie pretends he is hers by calling him Sandy and thus a wonderful new partnership is formed.
